In my last post, which launched this year’s Reprint of the Year awards, I mentioned that there were over 160 possible reprints to choose from, which is a wonderful but also quite daunting amount! It is also not an easy number of titles to remember, which can make things tricky when it comes to nominating books for the final voting poll. So to make things easier for my participating bloggers and for my blog readers, who also get to nominate 3 three titles for the poll (see details in launch post), I created this list. To make it more user friendly I have grouped them by publisher.
If you see any errors (which is quite likely in a list this long), or any titles that I have missed, then let me know.
If you see a title you wish to nominate for the Reprint of the Year awards, please submit this nomination to the comments section of the launch post.
Finally, I am interested to know how many of these that you have read? I think I have only read 37. Are there any you are tempted to add to your 2023 TBR pile?

Is Villainy at Vespers by Joan Cockins or Joan Coggins?

It is Joan Cockins.
Joan Coggins was a separate writer of children’s books and the four Lady Lupin mysteries.

Thanks, it sounded like a Lady Lupin title!

You’re not the first person to have that confusion, as it occurred in my book group last week.

Good question. Have just finished the Cockins book. As I reviewed it on Amazon, pretty dire. The dialect pages reminded me of the ” mock Scottish” rubbish in Five Red Herrings and Case of the Constant Suicides et al. You have been warned !

From that list, I’d like to nominate Juggernaut, by Alice Campbell (DSP). I read 3 of hers from your list this year, and this one, her debut, was my favourite. Thanks too for all the others I’ll now be checking out

Thank you for your nomination. Campbell seems to be doing well with the reader nominations.

One of the most dangerous lists of the year – my TBR wishlist just got quite a bit fatter. Thank you (I think)!

Well you don’t want too skinny a TBR pile in the winter months, it might get chilly! And you know you always need to make sure you have enough reading material in case you get snowed in.

I have read twenty-one books from this list although only half a dozen were new editions. I also plan to get several more books from this list, in particular some Alice Campbell and Hugh Austin volumes.

Yes some of my reads from the list were older editions too.

I do not know if you accept translations, but you haven’t mentioned Locked-Room International, which has done some work I’d love to nominate if at all possible, including the new Imamura DEATH WITHIN THE EVIL EYE.
If not allowed, then from your provided list I’d like to nominate…

Sorry, I do hope this comment isn’t late, and that it’s appropriate for me to nominate! I never contributed in ROY before and I was trying to figure out how this worked from your blog posts! Correct me if I made a mistake!

No you are not too late, nominations can be submitted up until the release date of the poll. Although if you left it until the 11th hour I might not see the nominations in time. As it is you are in plenty of time. I try to get people to submit their nominations just to the comments section of the launch post, as that saves me checking multiple places and also reduces the chances of me missing any. But I wouldn’t stress about it! We do accept mysteries in translation, but I think Death within the Evil Eye is outside the publication date criteria. It looks like a new book?? An example of a translated book we had in the poll last year was The Honjin Murders which was originally published in the 1940s. Your other nominations are all fine though.
