Yes, it’s September and yes, this post is talking about advent calendars! I apologise, as someone who is not keen on seeing Christmas cards in shops in August. However, this is not an ordinary advent calendar, it is the one and only Coffee and Crime Classic Crime Advent Calendar! I have launched the calendar sooner this year as in October, my Etsy shop will need to go on offline for a period of days, so to ensure that everyone gets a chance to get their calendar, I am opening the calendars early.
If you have managed to miss my previous posts on this item, you may be wondering what to expect so here is a quick summary:
Each advent calendar will contain:
- 12 Classic Crime Books (Preloved but in good condition.)
- 8 Chocolate Treats
- 4 Mystery themed gifts
Each item will have a mystery themed tag attached which shows which day it is be opened or consumed. Gift it to a friend or better still treat yourself to a Christmas of classic crime!
If you bought the calendar last year, (thanks!!), then you need not fear receiving the same gifts, as I have once again sourced new items. Etsy should notify me if you are a return customer, but if you want to be doubly sure that I have identified you as a returning customer, let me know in the message to seller section, which should appear on the way to the checkout.
If this sounds like your dream come true, then click here for my Etsy listing.
This link also contains all the lovely reviews I have received from customers in previous years and it has been pleasing to see that these calendars have met such approval.

The post man and other couriers have been getting their exercise this summer, as I have been hunting high and low for books in vintage and reprint editions and catering to different mystery reading tastes. Here are some of the authors in stock: George Bagby, Anthony Gilbert, John Dickson Carr, Arthur Upfield, Charlotte Armstrong, Margaret Erskine, Phoebe Atwood Taylor, E. R. Punshon, J. J. Connington, Jonathan Latimer, C. H. B. Kitchin, Anthony Berkeley, Dorothy Bowers, Maureen Sarsfield, Patrick Quentin, Cyril Hare and Dorothy Salisbury Davis. Obviously, there are loads more authors than that, but those were the first which sprung to mind.
This product is only available for those in the UK. Apologies to those living elsewhere, but postage costs are tea-splutteringly steep, and I was also concerned about the calendar arriving in one piece. However, my book box subscription service is more widely available.
To purchase this item at its lowest price I would recommend buying it during September when the Early Bird price will be available.
Due to the significant increase in volume of sales last year, I am extending my dispatch dates this year, just so I can give myself more time for putting orders together and ordering in more stock as required. The dispatch time will decrease the closer it gets to December, as the aim is always to get your calendar to you on time.
In order to keep postage costs down this item will be dispatched in two parcels. One half of the calendar will go in one package and the second half in the other.
Both parcels will be dispatched via second class post. Bear this in mind when purchasing this order, as if you buy this item at the very end of November, then it may not arrive in time for 1st December. If you want a postage upgrade please message me before purchasing.
If you have a food allergy please contact me via the button on the Etsy listing, before purchasing this item, so I can make sure I don’t send you any inappropriate chocolate treats.
You can also contact me on Etsy for any other queries relating to the product. Always happy to answer questions.
