The Coffee and Crime Classic Crime Advent Calendar is Back!!!

I am very pleased and like last year, a little bit excited, to announce that the Coffee and Crime Classic Crime Advent Calendar is back and this time it is available to purchase through October and November.

If you missed the launch last year, you may be wondering what to expect so here is a quick summary:

Each advent calendar will contain:

  • 12 Classic Crime Books (Preloved but in good condition.)
  • 8 Chocolate Treats
  • 4 Mystery themed gifts

Each item will have a mystery themed tag attached which shows which day it is be opened or consumed. Gift it to a friend or better still treat yourself to a Christmas of classic crime!

If you bought the calendar last year, (thanks!!), then you need not fear receiving the same gifts, as I have sourced new items.

If this sounds like your dream come true, then click here for my Etsy listing.

Or alternatively search for: Advent Calendar: Countdown to Christmas with a Vintage Confection of Crime Fiction

Note: The chest and basket are for display purposes only.

I have been hunting high and low for books over the summer, and at one point my Mum did query whether I had left any classic crime books left on the Internet, for anyone else to buy. Don’t worry I did… the £19,800 (+ £3.25 P&P) copy of Peril at End House is definitely still available!!! (Seriously you think they would offer free postage…)

To cater for different mystery reading tastes, I have been collecting titles from a variety of authors ranging from H. C. Bailey and J. J. Connington to Rex Stout, John Stephen Strange, Charlotte Armstrong and Patrick Quentin. I’ve also been keeping my eyes peeled for Christmas titles as well, including from the likes of Joan Coggin and Lorna Nicholl Morgan. JJ will also be very pleased that I have tracked down a copy of The Amazing Test Match Crime!

Important Information

This product is only available for those in the UK. Apologies to those living elsewhere, but postage costs are bit too steep and I was also concerned about the calendar arriving in one piece. However, my book box subscription service is more widely available.

To purchase this item at its lowest price I would recommend buying it during October when the Early Bird price will be available.

Use Number 79 for Green Penguin Books…

Postage

In order to keep postage costs down this item will be dispatched in two parcels. One half of the calendar will go in one package and the second half in the other.

Both parcels will be dispatched via second class post. Bear this in mind when purchasing this order, as if you buy this item at the very end of November, then it may not arrive in time for 1st December.

Food Allergies

If you have a food allergy please contact me via the button on the Etsy listing, before purchasing this item, so I can make sure I don’t send you any inappropriate chocolate treats.

You can also contact me on Etsy for any other queries relating to the product. Always happy to answer questions.

  1. How I wish I lived in the UK… or, How I wish you lived in India. Works either way, eh.🙂
Also, if you were my neighbor, I could have saved both of us a trip to the post office.😉

      • Bangalore weather isn’t bad. Sunny in the morning, rains by noon and cool(or chilly) by night.
Lachu went missing yesterday. She was most probably chased by a gang of stray dogs. Thankfully she came back home by night. So, for now she’s grounded.😛 No international travel for her.😂😂😂

        • Awwww poor Lachu. I’m sure she is getting lots of TLC now.
The weather doesn’t sound too bad in Banalore. Though whether I would be allowed to board a plane with my cat, chickens and goats is another matter…

          • Why board a plane when I can send my space ship to UK. Just say the magic word (which happens to be ‘magic word’) and you will find the space ship waiting by your front door. 😉😉
Btw, I found a few books by Ethel Lina White. I remember seeing your reviews. Any suggestions which of her books to read first?

            • Ah yes I had forgot about the space ship!
Here is a link to my ranked list of ELW reads. The books in positions 1-5 are her best and are reasonably close together in quality, especially the top 4. So you can just pick the title which appeals to you the most. Some are more suspense novels such as Some Must Watch and The Wheel Spins, others are inverted mysteries of sorts like The First Time He Died. Fear Stalked the Village is probably her most conventional detective novel.
Which titles have you tracked down?

              • I had purchased an ebook called British Mysteries Ultimate Collection. This contains 560+ detective stories.😱 It’s still available on Kindle store. Costs a pound/dollar. In case you are interested.
The whole of sherlock Holmes, Father Brown, many series by Edgar Wallace, Anne Hayes, Wilkie Collins, Austin Freeman, Ethel Lina White… the list of authors and series is long.🙂
These are the books by ELW I have: Fear Stalks the Village, Some Must Watch, Wax, The Wheel Spins, While She sleeps and She Faded into air.
